However, Chris Bosh is now back. And that means a) the end of Rasho's monster (relatively) fantasy run and b) the Raptors should stop being so awful. Not that it matters to you as much. However, Rasho should only be used as a number two center at best while owners in daily leagues should only start him for favorable matchups (see his 10 points, three boards and one turnover in 25 minutes off the bench against Denver last night).

Hot Cakes
Jamario Moon is also benefiting from Bosh's return. He has three straight games with double digit rebounds and posted 15 points, 15 boards, three blocks and a steal last night. It's entirely possible that he's unowned if your league is shallow enough, so notice the resurgence.

Dirk Nowitzki will miss the next two weeks. If you own him, I'm sorry, but you may have just been booted from the playoffs. Brandon Bass is the best bench guy the Mavs have available, but it will probably end up being Malik Allen that fills in because of his size. Expect Jason Terry and Jason Kidd's scoring to go up while field goal percentages go down. Josh Howard will have to step up his game too, if the Mavericks want to think about making the playoffs.

Gilbert Arenas thought he was returning last night, but it wasn't to be. He could be back as early as Tuesday at Portland. In fact, he was so confident he was playing last night, that he showed up without a blazer to the game against the Pistons. It's risky to play him in his first game back, but if you're desperate, I'd take the gamble.

Brandon Wright scored six points and had three blocks last night ... in 11 minutes. That's ridiculous per 40 production, but it's also a decent lower end forward total. Wright's still not posting every day big numbers, so he can be had, and he's a nice source of blocks.

It would probably be worth giving a shout out to Lamar Odom for last night's line: 19 points, 22 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and two steals. Disgusting. Playing the Warriors is good for fantasy production.

B-Ball, B-Fast: No Mo Rasho; Dirk Down originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Mon, 24 Mar 2008 09:40:00 EST . This is not shocking because he's been getting minutes. It is odd though, that a team in Indiana's position would rather give Flip run than let Travis Diener develop further; presumably this could also be a move to let Diener get more comfortable in the role he was used to. Or something. Regardless, Flip certainly has value as someone who will score points and pick up threes while hurting your percentages and not really giving you many assists from the PG position. If that's something you're interested in.

Hot Cakes
Z-Bo represent! Zach Randolph scored 21 points and pulled down 14 boards while starting at center against the Pacers on St. Patty's Day, showing us what he should have been doing all along in the Eastern Conference. Were it not for that stupid Eddy Curry and those meddling kids. Randolph's shooting percentage was looked about as appeasing as a Guinness at 6 a.m., but that should improve some as he takes more shots in the post. Still, he's going to have a nice run to close out the season for fantasy owners.

Josh Powell put up a double-double last night against the defenseless Al Jefferson, going for 10 points, 12 boards and two blocks. Powell is a low end center, obviously, but you could do worse around playoff time. Of course, beware the insanely high rate with which he picks up personal fouls as those aren't always "great" for court time. He should see plenty of run until Chris Kaman returns.

Caron Butler is back, and you're obviously starting him. But it's worth noting that his field goal percentage -- usually stellar -- has not been up to snuff since he returned from injury. Still, the steals and scoring and everything else he does are too valuable to ignore. He looks quite good.

Drew Gooden went dub-dubs (23/12) on the Hornets in a loss and he and Larry Hughes continue to start. I only mention this (again) because it really makes me angry to see Jimmy Boylan treating Tyrus Thomas worse than Scott Skiles did. Is there something we're missing about his play in practice that just makes him such an afterthought? Or is this just a hallmark of the Chicago organization?

Sam Cassell, using his Irish luck, had 17 points of the bench as the C's downed the Spurs by a deuce. This was Cassell's second straight game in double figures and while he's not going to log more than 30 minutes a game down the stretch, his scoring and assist capabilities make him a worth lower end guard.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Flip Ya Fa Real originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Tue, 18 Mar 2008 09:45:00 EST . But just like Old Yeller, at least the Knicks had the sense to put Eddy Curry out to pasture for this season. But you know what that means? Well, not much in terms of real basketball, since the Knicks stink. But in fantasy terms it means a lot, especially since Isiah Thomas wasn't smart enough to stock a second center on his roster. Zach Randolph should be center eligible soon and that's a huge boon to fantasy owners looking for late season positional mobility. It also means that David Lee will be starting. Which is you-uge. Also, you can expect to see Randolph's field goal percentage bump up and his rebounds to increase as well without Curry clogging the lane.

Hot Cakes
Ronny Turiaf might be able to backdoor some center eligibility as well, depending on Pau Gasol's injury length. He scored 13 points with eight boards, two dimes and three blocks on Sunday against the Rockets. Look to grab him immediately in smaller leagues with lower eligibility requirements.

Gerald Wallace continues to come off the bench after his return from a concussion. The Bobcats want to make sure he's good and healthy, plus they have an interest in making sure he doesn't disrupt their recent run of chemistry. (Not shockingly coinciding with the release of Jeff McInnis.) Expect "Crash" to ease back into the rotation, but you should be starting him.

Daequan Cook is getting the nod for Dwyane Wade at the two apparently, with Ricky Davis starting alongside Shawn Marion at forward. Oh. Right. Marion is on a recruiting trip. Er, injured. Impressive team, that Miami Heat. Cook is worth starting in larger leagues just because he's getting minutes and can score. His field goal percentage is awful, but the volume is nice.

Props to Marcus Camby for lobbing up a trip-dub that involved, surprisingly, assists. Camby was one of many that took part in the fantasy friendly 168 point outing for the Nuggets last night. Oddly enough though, there's not a lot to glean from that outing. You still know who does the scoring on that team.

Jason Kapono came out of nowhere to score 26 points in a loss to the Kings last night, and while the L doesn't help matters, it would make sense for the Raptors to shake things up mid-reel. Don't be surprised to see Kapono get some more run if he can keep getting hot, so get ready to use him again/add him again if he's been discarded.

Wally Szczerbiak played less than 10 minutes against the Bobcats, continuing to come off the bench. Wally's seen a drop in minutes the last two games and while he's probably locked into a sixth man role, at the same time it's not unreasonable to see the Cavs scale his minutes back in preparation for the playoffs. Adjust accordingly.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Centers of Attention originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Mon, 17 Mar 2008 09:00:00 EST . It appears my time has passed me by. Anywho, Kyle Lowry got the most run of the trio of young Memphis point guards last night, seeing 32 minutes and scoring 24 points with four assists and two steals. Javaris Crittenton had 30 minutes and scored 17 points with four assists and a steal, while Mike Conley, Jr., scored zero points (0 for six shooting) with one assist and a steal in 16 minutes. All of this is important, because for the rest of the season, the Grizzlies are essentially having a tryout for point guard. Whoever is playing well will keep getting the run. I love Conley, and he's legit, but I think people undervalue Lowry. Since it appears he's not going to have a tremendous leash, well, adjust accordingly.

Hot Cakes
Drew Gooden and Larry Hughes are both starters now (do these guys have dirt on a slew of NBA coaches?). Hughes put up eight points with five assists and two steals in 25 minutes while Gooden went nuts, albeit against Memphis, for 21 points and 14 rebounds. It's classic sell high on either guy, although they're certainly doing their best to spite LeBron James at this point.

Mike Miller has been out almost the equivalent of a week in NBA games for the Grizzlies, but is expected to return tonight. Consider holding him out one more game because back injuries = bad field goal percentage.

Devin Harris finally started at point guard last night, and it appeared to motivate Marcus Williams, who scored 16 points in 28 minutes off the bench. Unfortunately, Harris popped the Spurs for 13 and seven assists, even if he didn't shoot well (five of 17). I think there's a decent chance we see his offensive side bloom a little more now that he's out of Avery's way.

"Hey! Reggie Theus! Yeah, you! Why aren't you playing Francisco Garcia more? Seriously, brah, you're killing me." Ron Artest continued to hog the ball last night with 23 shots in 40 minutes and Garcia saw only 10 minutes. Artest is clearly insane, so the Kings have to let him go (assuming he opts out); Garcia is also the future so expect his minutes to climb as the season closes. Of course, if John Salmons -- 17 points, four boards and four assists -- keeps balling then it's going to be harder to give him time.

Matt Carroll needs to be added in almost any league, because he's going to make two threes a game down the stretch, at least. Jeff McInnis is gone and Carroll's more or less entrenched in the two spot, meaning he should have pretty nice value the rest of the season. Grab him.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Kyle Looow-ray originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Wed, 05 Mar 2008 09:45:00 EST . What does the guy have to do? Grab 16 rebounds in 30 minutes? Oh right. He did that. He did shoot two of nine, but if my coach didn't let me on the floor, I'd be hoisting shots every time I got on the hardwood too. Usually Lee, is the king of the plus/minus, but there wasn't a single Knick in the plus last night, so solace is at least found in him being their leading rebounder.

Hot Cakes
Andrei Kirilenko took a nasty little hit from Dirk Nowitzki last night and had to leave the game with only four minutes under his belt. The primary beneficiaries in terms of playing time would be a mix of Kyle Korver (who I think the Jazz actually like off the bench) and Matt Harpring. Harpring's worth an add and Korver is probably owned, although the latter would be must start material if he ended up in the starting lineup.

Tiny little tip of the cap to Deron Williams who decided to let Jason Kidd know who the elite in the L are, with a 17 point, 20 assist night that included five boards and two blocks. We'd like him to shoot a little bit better, but it's tough to be picky. Very nice.

Brevin Knight appears to be back at regular PG duties for the Clipjoint now that Sam Cassell is gone -- he's certainly always a nice add if you're looking for steals and assists. The guy that's worth keeping an eye on (because Knight tends to get hurt) is *shudder* Dan Dickau. He played 16 minutes last night and recorded four dimes in that span. A starter is a starter, folks.

B-Ball, B-Fast: Free Lee! originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Tue, 04 Mar 2008 09:50:00 EST . Smith rolled over in his vocal-chord enhancing cyborg chamber last night as Rasho Nesterovic posted a very nice line -- 16 points, five boards and three blocks -- with Chris Bosh beginning to sit out a week with a knee issue. Nesterovic isn't going to set the world on fire, but he can be a nice option in deeper leagues for boards and blocks over the next week, and as long as Bosh stays injured, he's a cheap filler. Plus, he kind of looks like Dwight Schrute, so that's a bonus.

Hot Cakes
It's safe to say Devin Harris is going to take that starter's job in New Jersey. He scored another 21 off the bench last night with five boards and two dimes in 35 minutes; Marcus Williams had eight points with three boards and two dimes, plus four turnovers in only 18 minutes. Get prepared to see Williams' minutes continue to dive.

Luis Scola went off for 18 points and 14 boards against the Nuggets. With Yao Ming done for the season, you could really see that Scola felt a need to carry the offensive load. Unlikely he's available in your league, but if he is, get ready for a boost in value for the remainder of the season.

Larry Hughes continue to score as a member of the Bulls, posting 23 points with five boards, four assists and a steal last night against his old team. He's a field goal crusher (eight of 20 last night) but he's still putting the ball in the hoop.

Erick Dampier pulled in 17 rebounds with 16 points; he did foul out in 30 minutes though, which is something you'll have to worry about when he goes against bigger centers than Pau Gasol (looking towards Phoenix). Still, he actually seems to care this year a little, which is dangerous for fantasy owners looking to trust him.

Kendrick Perkins might get the line of the night with 11 points, 12 boards, six dimes and four blocks while going four of five from the floor. Measty. He's a pretty nice source of blocks and boards for the remainder of the season, and could see more of an offensive role as the Celts look to rest their big trey.

Darius Songalia got a starting nod for the Wiz last night, notching eight points, six boards and three assists in 32 minutes. He's a decent option for boards in deeper leagues if he continues to start, and with Washington scraping the barrel right now, it's certainly possible.

Brandan Wright only saw 18 minutes but he scored 13 points with seven boards and a block in that time, which is pretty freaking impressive. Nellie's said he's going to get run, so add him now and get ready for a big finish to the season.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Ra-SHO! originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Mon, 03 Mar 2008 09:30:00 EST . He finished the win against his old team with 24 points, 12 assists, five rebounds, one steal, one block, two threes, seven of 14 from the floor and only one turnover. That, folks, is a helluva game. And what we used to think he was capable of on a regular basis, although admittedly, this might have been particularly spite based, given how much it surpasses his "prime" numbers (arguably either his final season in Vancouver or three-four years ago in Sactown). Meaning, Bibby will be good, and you should start him, but this is the exception I think. Not the rule.

Hot Cakes
Welcome to your new home, Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden. Hughes finished with 29 points, six assists and three steals while Gooden notched a dub-dub with 10 points and 15 boards. Two can play at this game, Mr. Wallace. They're probably not going to be starters, but they'll be fantasy start worthy. Spite is such a beautiful thing.

Speaking of big King games -- Brad Miller had a monster last night. 25 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, two steals, a block and three three pointers. Suite jeebus. Miller has been on a tear for the past month or so and is obviously an excellent start in all leagues, I just wanted to give him a shoutout. I'd buy on it too, if someone was selling.

Note the equality in minutes for T.J. Ford and Jose Calderon (roughly 24 for each one, Ford finished with 16 points, three dimes; Calderon with six and seven, respectively). This is how it could be the rest of the season, with the Raptors wanting both fresh for the playoffs. Take that into consideration if it's not too late to move Calderon. Or if they play someone really bad like the Timberwolves for daily leagues.

Travis Diener continues to start and do well in Indiana (actually "really well" is probably more appropriate -- 22 points, nine assists and three rebounds last night, along with six of 10 from the floor and 10 of 10 from the stripe); he's going to have off nights but he's also a great fantasy back end guard down the stretch for assists, threes and percentages.

Is Eddy Curry done in New York? Will they swing him for a bag of Cheesy Doodles? Fifteen minutes, zero points, three boards and two blocks in a win, no less, might be the weirdest stat line I've ever seen. You obviously can't start him right now with the way Isiah is acting.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Kinged originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Thu, 28 Feb 2008 09:45:00 EST . The bad news? You're not going to replace his production. Yeah, I know, you needed that. The not-really-but-kinda good news? There's more fantasy love to go around. Witness Luther Head, Carl Landry, Rafer Alston, Luis Scola and, of course, Tracy McGrady all scoring in double figures last night. Expect point totals -- across the board for the most part -- to go up while percentages drop. Dikembe Mutumbo is *shudder* a very real and possible fantasy option at center. He won't wow you with scoring ... in fact, he won't wow you with anything, but he did block four shots last night. And blocks are rare, so he's got that going for him.

Hot Cakes
Was that a Spencer Hawes sighting last night? The Kings rook had 16 points, two boards and two assists in 25 minutes. Hawes could be a surprise option going forward in terms of low-end fantasy production -- the Kings are out of the playoffs and need to see what they've got in the young guys, so consider him in deeper leagues. (And yeah, the fact that the Kings shot 42% as a team might have something to do with his bump in PT).

Charlie Villanueva may have shot four of 12 last night, but at least he came reasonably close to a dub-dub (10 points, eight boards). I really think he's going to make noise in the second half, and a starting job is a starting job folks.

You may have noticed Wally Szczerbiak went a not-so-nice two of nine from beyond the arc (Delonte West went one of four); don't freak out about their three point potential, as a lot of their ability to get open is going to be dependent on Ben Wallace and Anderson Varajeo not being the only "offensive" options in the post. If Zydrunas Ilguaskus is out, their shooting percentages might suffer. It's worth noting for daily leaguers. (Update: As Ryne points out, mentioning why Big Z was out would be nice -- upper respiratory infection, and he should be back soon. No need to panic.)

Everyone's going to be talking about Shaq's double double last night, so they'll probably gloss over the sick-narsty game that Boris Diaw put up: 15 points, 11 boards, seven assists and three steals while going six of seven from the floor. Just ridiculous, and more indicative, in my opinion, of what he'll do the rest of the season.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Life After Yao originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Wed, 27 Feb 2008 09:50:00 EST . Ford and Carlos Delfino both went off, off the bench, on Monday night. Ford finished with 16 points, seven dimes and five boards, while Delfino scored 23 points with a ridiculous six of seven threes, five boards and a dime. The importance? Jose Calderon, would-be All Star, is getting tired. At least that's the rumor floating down from the border. Which means that as the Raps prepare for a playoff run, Ford and Delfino will need to play bigger roles. Ergo, you should do what you can to get their services for the rest of the season.

DeShawn Stevenson scored a career high 33 points and hit a buzzer beater to sting the Hornets (sorry) as the Wizards got a much needed win. Antonio Daniels is still banged up and Gilbert Arenas' return has been delayed further; also, Caron Butler is still rehabbing, kind of, so Stevenson will likely be called on to score more in the foreseeable future. Do with that what you will.

Drew Gooden scored 17 points with eight boards and two steals off the bench for the Bulls last night; he apparently got word of Ben Wallace's decision to return to prominence. Seriously though, Chicago seems determined to not give Tyrus Thomas playing time, so don't be shocked to see Gooden get run in the Windy City. He's probably not auto-start worthy just quite yet, but it's worth monitoring, and he's worth grabbing if he got dropped during the move.

Erick Dampier pulled in 16 rebounds but more disconcertingly for the Mavs, picked up six fouls. They need someone that can "back him up" (meaning that said person wouldn't necessarily have to be "worse" than Dampier, just not as expensive and perhaps a situational shot blocker ... Either way, expect Damp's value to fluctuate greatly, and if you can still sell high, do.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Off the Bench. Woo, me. No, seriously, what a nightmare. The Supersonics promised to give him some run because he was going to be a restricted FA and they wanted to know what they had. Instead, Swift is likely out for the season. Taking his place? Johan Petro (who I dropped for him, of course). Petro scored seven points, grabbed 10 boards and blocked two shots last night and in he's gonna be available in most leagues. He's not a total gamer, but hey, it's late in the season and if you're in a deep league and need a center, you could do worse. (Rasho NEST-er-o-VIC, anyone?) The other guy to watch? Mickael Gelabale. He's a youngster out of France and he scored 12 points two games ago and 21 with eight boards, an assist and a steal against the Lakers last night. Look, the Sonics are punting on this season. That doesn't mean you can't take advantage. If Gelabale continues to get run, scoop him.

Hot Cakes
Tyrus Thomas went for 18 points, six boards, five dimes, two blocks and a steal last night. Maybe we can stop calling him an "enigma" or some-such-honkey, and just admit that Scott Skiles didn't know how to use him. Everyone else fine with that? If your trade deadline hasn't passed, trade for him -- could be a monster second half.

Larry Hughes made his Chi-town debut last night and scored 13 points in 21 minutes. He has no real motivation, and there's no real guarantee he'll get the playing time (except the Bulls are paying him out the A), but I could totally see Larry spiting Cleveland by going back to averaging 20 plus per game. Be forewarned.

Darko Milicic is no longer freed, apparently, having been returned to the bench and not playing more than 21 minutes over his last four games. This seems ridiculous, given that the other option is Kwame Brown. So I would say that makes Darko quite a nice buy low if that's still an available option. Otherwise I'd hold onto him.

Nice to see Eddy Curry back to the starting lineup after Isiah Thomas benched him for 38 minutes over the weekend; he scored 12 points and got five rebounds while being dominated by Andrea Bargnani. I'd try and tell you what was going to happen in that situation but I don't have an answer for Isiah. I'm sorry. David Lee continues to be good yet underused though. So he's got that going for him.

Primo Brezec said he wants to play. And play he did -- he also dominated Curry and scored 11 points with three boards in just 13 minutes. Quite impressive.
B-Ball, B-Fast: French Connection originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Mon, 25 Feb 2008 09:00:00 EST . Landry scored in double figures again last night, playing the role of sixth man, with 19 points and five boards in just 24 minutes. Is Landry going to start or even be a heavy fantasy contributor? Probably not. But he's gonna get run in the suddenly red-hot Rockets system and because he, Luther Head and Aaron Brooks are such immediate offense off the bench, he's going to be worth using.

Hot Cakes
Manu Ginobili continues to have a monster season, scoring 44 points last night; start him. Obviously, however, his value is much higher with Tony Parker out, because he needs to see more starter's minutes, so that plus him playing heavier minutes than usual at least mean it's worth considering a trade if someone offers you the right thing. (Big ups to Tim Duncan by the way, for a 24/14/7/4/3 line, which is beyond silly.)

On that Cleveland-Chicago trade, you need to consider that Ben Wallace might be motivated and could see a spike in rebounds and blocks -- he's too expensive not to play him. Wally Szczerbiak should see increased scoring, but he and Delonte West will both just be counted on to spot up on the outside when LeBron James drives. Nice sources of threes. Joe Smith's value takes a hit and deep leagues should take a flier on Cedric Simmons. Larry Hughes and Ben Gordon could make things awkward for one another.

Great news for Earl Watson when Delonte West was traded, and Watson responded like he was happy about the deal, going off for a near triple-double 15/8/9. Watson has only Luke Ridnour to fend off for the rest of the season, and seems like he's going to be a nice fantasy option the rest of the way home.

Kurt Thomas didn't play last night and while he's going to be mainly a defensive body for San Antonio (his value would have taken a much bigger spike in Orlando), he should see some run in the frontcourt to make him worth using in deeper leagues soon.

Despite the Sonics statement that Robert Swift would get more time, it was Johan Petro who got the start last night against Portland (23 minutes), although Nick Collison saw the most time on the court (36 minutes). Swift got four. Collison is the future, but the team wants to know if Swift is someone they need to hold onto -- go grab him and enjoy the blocks and boards.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Landry List originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Fri, 22 Feb 2008 10:45:00 EST . But you best believe that in the meantime, and probably after, the Nets are going to give Marcus Williams plenty of run. He got it in overtime last night, scoring 25 points with four boards and four assists. And yeah, his team won and he awkwardly outplayed Jason Kidd as well. If Williams is floating around or is on your bench, grab him/get him active; he should be a great source of points and light assists over the next week or so.

Hot Cakes
The word out of Milwaukee is that Charlie Villanueva will start for the rest of the season. He's been beasty when motivated before, so make him a priority add this morning if he's available. (Yes, I am aware that he only got eight points and three boards last night ... doesn't matter.)

Robert Swift will also be seeing a big bump in playing time, as the Sonics see what they've got in the soon-to-be restricted free agent. Kurt Thomas is now out of town, so Swift should be a great source for blocks and boards the rest of the way home -- pre-injury he had shown some serious fantasy potential and was always a pre-season sleeper fave.

Oh yeah. I kind of have to mention that LeBron James has poured in back to back triple doubles now. Do you think he's lobbing those up and then storming into Danny Ferry's office demanding that he make some sort of trade happen? Because I do. Like the Mike Miller trade -- if that happens you need to pounce all over Kyle Lowry immediately. Miller's value won't plummet either, because of LeBron's unselfishness.

Jamario Moon came out stoutly following the All Star break with 17 points, 12 boards and four assists. Expect a nice second half out of Moon, but be wary of a sell high situation in the next few days in case the Raptors acquire Mickael Pietrus.

Andre Miller continued to dominate last night against the Knicks with 12 points and 10 dimes, plus three steals. There was a lot of talk of him moving but it appears that he might be staying put -- that's a good thing, especially considering he seems happy with this Philly team and is cranking out monster fantasy numbers as the Sixers make a playoff run. Hold tight.

Eddy Curry finished with six boards and Zach Randolph finished with three. That is not "hot". Randolph hasn't been going large, but if Curry -- as has been rumored -- gets moved at the deadline, start trying to trade for Z-Bo immediately; his boards and field goal percentage will skyrocket if Curry gets out of the Apple. David Lee will see a nice bump too as the Knicks would purportedly go small.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Ason Kidd Left His 'J' in New Jersey Apparently originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Thu, 21 Feb 2008 09:00:00 EST . Yet he did not play last night against the Bulls. Why? Because Marcus Banks got 21 minutes of backup point guard time for Jason Williams. Marcus scored nine points and recorded four turnovers with four personal fouls. Auspicious at best, indeed. However, Banks is probably more talented and certainly better than anything his time in Phoenix showed and if he's going to get between 20 and 30 minutes a game, he's definitely worth at least taking a flier on.

Hot CakesThabo Sefolosha stayed hot heading into the All Star Break, scoring 17 points with 12 boards and four steals. In February, he's averaging 14 points, six boards, three and a half assists and a block and steal per game each. There's certainly some question as to whether or not he will keep starting/playing big minutes when everyone gets healthy, but Ben Gordon has been mentioned a lot in trade talks, and if he gets shipped, Thabo will have value for the rest of the season. I say take the gamble and "buy high".

What does it say about Mark Blount that Tyrus Thomas started at center and dominated him? Not good things. Tyrus finished with 10 points, 12 boards and four blocks. Personally, I'm a huge fan of Thomas' in terms of someone that could/should have a big second half. If you trust my gut (and why wouldn't you?) take a gamble.

And there's the Boris Diaw we've all been waiting to see -- 19 points, eight boards, five dimes, three blocks and a steal. Gooey, gooey good for roto. As Matt pointed out, Dallas needs a pass first point guard badly right now; it's kind of unfair to Jason Terry to keep moving him back and forth from sixth man to the distribution role.

Devean George continues to play. And play poorly. If the Mavericks were healthy, it's hard to believe he would actually be seeing the court at all. Nothing really fantasy worthy here, I just wanted to pile on Devean.
B-Ball, B-Fast: The Heat Is Off /Loggins originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Fri, 15 Feb 2008 09:30:00 EST . And responded quite well, with 23 points, 24 rebounds and two blocked shots. Marcus Camby? Um, notsomuch. Howard shut him down to take back the rebounding lead. And you know who else went large? Howard's draft-mate, Emeka Okafor, who went for 20 points, 21 boards and five blocks. 20/20 by two guys from the same class?? That doesn't happen much. And it also goes to show that nearly regardless of what it costs, you want to make a run for both of these guys at the end of the season (or just one of them).

Hot Cakes
Ike Diogu sighting!!! Diogu got 13 bench minutes against the Pistons last night and scored 14 points with three rebounds. I absolutely love this guy and with the Pacers floundering nightly, you have to wonder how long until management starts giving some run to guys that could be part of the future. If you're in a really deep league and Diogu is available, I would grab him.

Lamar Odom went for a trip-dub last night (10 points, 16 boards, 10 assists) and that more than anything speaks to the monster value he's going to have for the rest of the season with Pau Gasol coming into town. It makes Odom less of a straight scorer and turns him into the third option, where he'll thrive, passing and rebounding in the triangle offense. Hint: You would like to trade for him.

Antonio Daniels returned to the floor for the short handed Wizards and posted nine points, eight boards, seven assists, four steals. Those are just the type of numbers he's gonna give you, which is nice, but he's probably going to lose out on time in the next two to three weeks, if not sooner becaue of the return of Gilbert Arenas. Start shopping him as the deadline approaches.

Ummm, so Manu Ginobili? Shout-outs. 46 points, five boards, eight assists, three steals and a block. While shooting 15 of 20 from the floor. That's pretty frickin' ridiculous (especially when you consider he went eight of 11 from the three point line). You probably want to be starting him at this time.

Nate Robinson came back and scored 11 points off the bench last night. When we last left him, he was taking over the starting point guard job. Isiah Thomas has said he's gonna shop for someone else, but there's a decent chance that shop-job doesn't get done before the deadline. Hold onto Robinson.

B-Ball, B-Fast: 20/20 Club originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Thu, 14 Feb 2008 09:45:00 EST . His field goal percentage is down a little bit, but his averages across the board are all up (he's pulling in a block and a steal per game along with 18 points, six boards and two assists, roughly) yet he recorded only his third double double of the season, with 18 points and 10 rebounds. But here's the thing -- he's improving in the new year, averaging over 20 points per game with slightly increased numbers elsewhere. And he's still young too, folks, which means a big second half bump could be coming up soon. Trade for him now.

Hot Cakes
Al Horford went for another big dub-dub against the Pistons last night with 12 points and 16 boards, plus a block, and is in line for a largo second half. Rookies can hit the wall, etc., but generally it's nicer to own young guys in the second half of the season. I think Horford ends up with a 10/10 average on the season, personally.

Mark Blount will absolutely not quit. He went for 22 in the last game and now 18 and 13 against Marcus Camby. W.T.F. He doesn't have a contract coming up, but he suddenly has a legit starting job, and odds are pretty good he wants to keep it. Continue starting him, but if you get a good offer, no reason not to sell.

Back to back big games for J.R. Smith too, and as I mentioned, he needs to get to a team that will play him ... and maybe he knows it, since he could certainly be part of a deadline deal given the Nuggets already steady ability to score. If he's out there, snatch him up and hope it happens.

Hakim Warrick went for 24 points and 13 boards last night and let's get serious -- who else is starting at the four for the Grizz the rest of the way? Chris Wallace probably wants to know what he has in the upside-ridden lengster (possibly not a word), so why not give him the run? This was Warrick's first dub-dub so get on it.

Andres Nocioni went for 28 points last night and, well, he's probably going to keep scoring, at least until the Bulls get healthy. Play him as long as Luol Deng, et al are ailing.

Broken Eggs
Bad news on the Bobcat front, as Gerald Wallace will miss tonight's game and won't play again (obviously) until after the All Star Break. Jason Richardson should be a go, but has a sprained left ankle, which means you should consider sitting him if percentages are an issue.
B-Ball, B-Fast: La Granger originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Wed, 13 Feb 2008 09:00:00 EST . Hence the name. The biggest shocker might have been the Cavs' decision to start Larry Hughes at point and go big with LeBron James at the two. Hughes responded decently by scoring 40 points with six boards, three dimes and two steals. Makes you wonder what Mike Brown's next move is...

Hot Cakes
Seems as if Jameer Nelson, despite Stan Van Gundy's seeming distaste for he and his extension, is back to starting (with 22 points, four boards, four assists last night). Carlos Arroyo initially was going to be handed the gig but Nelson is now back in play. Personally, if he started to go off, I would sell high. Buy low on Arroyo.

Jeff McInnis is starting again. After the Bobcats signed Earl Boykins. The point? Well, besides the fact that you should ignore McInnis for fantasy purposes (10 points and six dimes against Derek Fisher is not offensively spectacular, I'm sorry), you should also probably not take any bets that involve "Sam Vincent as a head coach next year" unless you're laying money against it happening.

Brevin Knight's best game in the last week and a half? Three points, five assists. Not getting excited are you? But Sam Cassell is fairly certain he wants to get shipped out and the Clipjoint doesn't really benefit at this point from keeping him on. Knight's dime and steal totals could skyrocket if Sam I Am is gone. Buy cheap.

Gilbert Arenas thinks he might be back sooner than March, but Roger Mason, who started at point last night, doesn't see the need to rush him. Mason went 13 of 20 for 32 points, six assists and a steal last night. If he keeps the starting gig on a short-handed Wizards team, he is going to be a nice addition for the next week or two.

I'll admit when I was wrong and this time, I am wrong. Damon Stoudamire = worthless. So worthless, in fact, that Jacques Vaughn is beating him out for run at the point position. Drop, sell, etc.

When it came down to playing time issues in a very important game, you saw who got it -- Jose Calderon pulled 36 minutes and T.J. Ford pulled, um, eight. Now, I know he's still recovering, but I think a 75 percent - 25 percent is the ratio we are going to see from these two the rest of the way home.
B-Ball, B-Fast: What's Your Point? originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Tue, 12 Feb 2008 10:00:00 EST . For whatever that's worth. And it was the obvious addition of Shawn Marion that made them look like a more explosive team. Marion, for those wondering, went for 15 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and three steals. He also shot six of 13 from the floor. So basically, this confirms that ... yeah, he's still good. What's worth mentioning though, is that Matrix might see a dip in his field goal percentage because his baskets, sans Steve Nash, just won't be as easy as in Phoenix. Interestingly, his assists might see a slight tick up -- although you shouldn't expect too much -- as he touches the ball more.

Hot Cakes
Jacques Vaughn started for the Spurs against the Celtics, but Damon Stoudamire still saw most of the minutes and got most of the stats (not to mention he took 11 shots). Squeeze what you can out of Mighty Mouse until Tony Parker returns.

Glen Davis played great defense against Tim Duncan yesterday, in case you missed the game, and with Kendrick Perkins hurt, Kevin Garnett obviously banged up and the Celtics having plenty of guards on the roster, don't be surprised to see Big Baby get some nice minutes in the coming week or two, making him a nice short term add.

J.R. Smith scored 18 points on six of 11 three point shooting in a blowout win over the Cavaliers. Will the Nuggets please-please-please trade him to someone that can use him. He's too good to waste there. Grrr.

Back to back double-doubles for Jose Calderon as we approach the All Star game and he gets snubbed again (although admittedly, the East does need a real center to back up Dwight Howard). T.J. Ford managed to pick up 13 assists as well (ridiculous, no?) but it's beyond the initial awkward stage, and it just seems like this is going to be Calderon's team from here on out.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Premiere of the Matrix originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Mon, 11 Feb 2008 09:00:00 EST . Of course, one would also think that Chris Duhon would not score 34 points. He, in fact, did. He also, in fact, added nine assists. Oh, and three steals. The last two parts are totally legit, assuming Hinrich remains out and Duhon gets the PT (he will). The points though, are a career high and an abnormality likely based on facing off against the Warriors. Hinrich has missed three games with bruised ribs now and probably won't be rushed back immediately, but you want to be selling on Duhon regardless. If you can't find a buyer (which wouldn't be totally shocking) then certainly play him until Kirk returns.

Hot Cakes
Dorrell Wright will not go quietly into the night. Presumably, he will lose run once Shawn Marion suits up and Udonis Haslem returns from his ankle issues. However, that's three straight games with double digit points (16 and 10 boards last night) and what do the Heat have to lose this season? Take a flier if he's out there.

Mark Blount, though, should be in good shape. He was seeing time and actually posting nice numbers with Shaquille O'Neal out and with the Daddy gone, those numbers should continue. He managed 10 boards against the Sixers, along with 15 points, but you should be using him more for his point scoring and the fact that he's a cheap center option than for his rebounding prowess.

Tyrus Thomas should have issues with Chicago right now. All those guys mentioned above are hurt and he's still not starting. Was too much going right with the Chi-town season to give him time on the hardwood? 15 points, five boards, two blocks and a steal in 26 minutes. Please play him, Chicago. And you, fantasy owner, should trade for him -- seems like the type of guy that could end up having a big second half. Don't say I didn't warn you.

More Doook news, as Shane Battier scored 15 points with eight boards. And, naturally, two blocks. It's hard to tell whether or not these Dukies are just going off because of the win over Carolina or if it was just totally random. Either way, Battier has been a little more consistent in February but saw more time because of Tracy McGrady dealing with respiratory issues. You've got to start Shane just for the blocks really.

Speaking of revenge, how about Joe Smith scoring 27 on his old (very old) team? Smith is getting all the shots he wants with half the Bulls on the mend and is a fantastic fantasy option right now, at least for points and boards. And honestly, who really thought they would be saying that.

Is Al Harrington secretly loving the Chris Webber trade? At first it looked like it would take his playing time, but there's no way C-Webb is going to work in this system, right? Meaning Harrington might actually get off the bench faster and see more time as Nellie scratches the itch to run. He had 20 points, three threes, three steals and four boards in 26 minutes. I'm saying buy low on Al.
B-Ball, B-Fast: No, They're Saying 'Duuuhon' originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Fri, 08 Feb 2008 09:00:00 EST . Step in my favorite last name in basketball, Andray Blatche. Blatche helped jump start the Wiz to a near win over the Spurs until the team ran out of gas in the fourth and he posted a beasty dub-dub with 15 points and 16 boards. Bearing in mind that this outing was against Tim Duncan, feel free to jump all over/continue starting Blatche until Butler is ready to return.

Hot Cakes
Andray wasn't the only guy posting big board numbers last night though (and I'm not even counting Amare Stoudemire's 20-20 game) as Al Horford came up super-big-large against the Lakers to the tune of 15 points and 20 rebounds, all while making Pau Gasol look a lot less like he did in his Lakers opener. No one thought Horford was going to be big until the second half of the season, but, uh, here we are, and he's been fine. Expect bigger numbers going forward. And (again) I have to at least note Josh Smith's line last night -- 17 points, nine boards, nine assists and five blocks. It's just silly at this point.

By all accounts, Rajon Rondo should be at least a little bothered by the Celts' need to add a veteran point guard. It certainly did not look like it last night as he squared off against potential backup Sam Cassell and went off for 24 points, eight assists, four steals and five boards. Quite impressive, Mr. Rondo. Too bad Danny Ainge is still getting someone else. Which means that fantasy owners should think about selling on Rajon.
And of course, I would just be doing an injustice to the man if I didn't congratulate Dirk Nowitzki for recording his first career triple double last night. Obviously, you should consider starting him on your fantasy squads.
Oh yes, and while we're on the subject of triple doubles, Earl Watson had one last night as well. (Was last night just a total monster for the Association? Because it seems that way.) 23 points, 10 boards and 10 dimes with two steals and a block is fairly beasty. And given that Luke Ridnour nine assists in his last three games, Watson looks like the guy you want the rest of the way in Seattle.

Kyle Korver can only score 27 points off the bench while Ronnie Brewer is ineffective so many time so many times before he gets the starting gig; although maybe Jerry Sloan likes using him off the bench. Either way, Korver is getting good minutes and needs to be used across the board.
B-Ball, B-Fast: Blaaaaaaaah-tche originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Thu, 07 Feb 2008 09:00:00 EST . Gasol finished with 24 points, 12 boards, four assists and a steal. The Spaniard's back may be wonked out, but expect great fantasy totals from him, no real change. It will be interesting though, when Andrew Bynum returns -- Gasol might see a dip in rebound totals (albeit small) but should see a bump in assists.

Hot Cakes
In more Gasol-related news, Rudy Gay continues to jack shots left and right in Memphis (seventeen tonight); he's gonna score more points now but the percentages are gonna take a hit. But the biggest boost might be for Mike Miller, who broke the 30 point mark last night and has free reign to fire away from deep whenever he wants, one would imagine. Miller is going to have a very, very, very large second half to the season, so get him if you can.

Darko Milicic is suddenly a fantasy force too, posting his third consecutive double double. Expect him to start the rest of the season (unless you believe in Kwame, in which case, you should pick a different sport) and post great board and block totals.

Charlie Villanueva could see a surge in playing time with Yi Jianlian hurt and that should relate nicely in terms of statistics. He put up a pair of 16's (points and boards) in 31 minutes at the four and should be motivated to try and grab some playing time while it's available. Snatch him up if he's been dropped.

Damon Stoudamire, as expected, started for the Spurs last night. He wasn't spectacular though. 11 points, one board and no assists. Expect better totals when he gets used to the offense, at least until Tony Parker returns, anyway.

Broken Eggs
Caron Butler left with a bruised hip flexor, which is terrifying if you own him obviously. He missed time last week because of it and could miss more time this coming week as well. Plan accordingly (as if he's going to miss that is.)
B-Ball, B-Fast: Boom, Bang, Pau! originally appeared on Fantasy FanHouse on Wed, 06 Feb 2008 09:00:00 EST .
